Message from the District Governor

We are fast approaching the final round-up for the 2015-16 Kiwanis year and we want provide you with a special invitation to the biggest hoedown on the Red River in 20 years. The 98th Annual Convention for Louisiana-Mississippi-West Tennessee District of Kiwanis International this year will be in Shreveport August 5-7. As Governor and First Lady of this territory, we want all of you to come so we can thank all of you for all that you have done to improve the lives of children and communities in our District. And we think the best way we can thank you is to make it an old fashioned western celebration. There will be loads of food, fun, and fellowship as only Kiwanians can provide. So dust off your cowboy hats and shine up your boots, load up the little woman (or man) and young’uns and head to Shreveport. There is a fun time planned for the entire family. We’ll take care of some business first and elect a new Governor before we get down to partying. There will be games and contests such as ‘ “cow chip” toss’, ‘steer roping’, ‘hat on the bedpost’ and ‘some dead-eye “shooting” as well as best-dressed cowboy and cowgirl and many other fun contests to win some Governor Gary Bucks good for prizes galore. And of course what would a western hoedown be without lots of dancing and singing until the cows come home.

So mark your calendars and get ready for a good time

Gary & Jamie

What if you could save a baby's life?

With The Eliminate Project, you can. Maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) kills one baby every nine minutes. But three doses of a 60-cent vaccine can protect mothers and babies. Kiwanis and UNICEF have joined forces to bring this vaccine to 38 countries, eliminating MNT from the face of the Earth. What can you do right now? Learn about MNT and advocate for the cause. Participate in our fundraisers. Over the next few years, the work we do will change the world. Find out more at
